John Edward Boyd, 74, of Fort Worth passed away in Clifton, Texas Tuesday, August 27, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Good Shepherd Catholic Community, 1000 Tinker Rd., Colleyville, TX 76034. (817)421-1387 John was born February 26, 1945 in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania to the late Willis and Evelyn (O'Hollywood) Boyd. He attended Monsignor Bonner Catholic High School in Drexel Hill, PA. He traveled the country working in sales and marketing for manufacturers of cars and RVs, and he owned and operated a video rental store. After retiring, John raised money for Alzheimer's research, including writing letters to the president. He married Karen Threadgill, and they shared 42 happy years together. He had a deep faith and was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Community Church. John Boyd will be remembered as kind, generous, affable, optimistic, and funny. His family will remember trips together, poker games, and "dad jokes" galore (e.g., Child: "I'm going to take a shower." Dad: "Bring it back when you're done!"). ming pools. His littlest grandkids will remember him reading to them, taking them to the water park, and teaching them silly tricks. He taught Michelle how to play basketball and softball and how to throw a spiral football. He taught her all the state capitals. He taught her to appreciate gardening, traveling, Halloween, classic horror films, fine dining, and great jazz. He taught her how to find the humor in anything. He loved reading and writing fiction. His favorite travel spot was Hawaii. He had a playful nickname for everyone he loved. He liked his watermelon with salt. He was a wonderful man and he will be remembered, above all else, for his love that never ends. John is preceded in death by his parents Willis and Evelyn Boyd; brother Bill Boyd; dear aunts Kitty Compton and Mary Hollywood. Survivors: Wife of 42 years Karen Boyd; daughter Michelle Boyd Granden and her husband Jeremiah Granden and their children Harry and Vivian Granden; daughter Cyndy Roberts and family; daughter Jennifer Firneno and family; daughter Kym Jones and family; a total of 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
