Trail in 9th grade, that launched a love of motor cross with his "wrench" and best friend Jim Houser. They competed in four states into their early 20's . One favorite story is the race he finished even after losing a seat! Doug never gave up and together they won a State Championship. His competitive time with motor cross lead to a life of building choppers and enjoying riding motorcycles. Fritz introduced many of the things Doug found a passion for. Doug was an avid hunter who loved the time with his friends as much as the hunt. He won many competitions for trap and skeet. Doug enjoyed many breeds of dogs over his life but he always had a special love for his labs that hunted with him. While he has an impressive collection of game, including a two black bears from Canada, the memories hunting, fishing and sharing his love of the outdoors are what brought the most joy to Doug. Doug's career at Kellogg's was more than a job of 38 years. He joined his mother at Kellogg's at age 19. His Kellogg's family was always a special part of his life. As a mechanic his natural talent of helping others created many partnerships and lifetime friendships. Doug mentored many people throughout his career and treasured passing on his passions and skills. His passions and skills were many and vast. Doug could be found tinkering in his garage if he was not hunting. He never turned down a friend in need and was always helping others. He loved to cook and feed people, his smoked meats were a favorite. He never missed an opportunity to bring jokes and laughter to all. Doug loved big and loved well.
