Harold W. Murphy

Harold W. Murphy, “Murph”   Mr. Harold Murphy, of Main St. in Belgium, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2009 at Cedar Springs Health and Rehab. Center in Cedarburg. He was 76 years old. Harold was born July 12, 1932 in Merrill, WI, the son of William Murphy and Lena Newman Murphy.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage with his best friend, Patricia, in 1977 in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death in 1979.  Murph worked as a Great Lakes Seaman through the Seafarer’s Union for much of his life. He traveled constantly as a seaman, and after retiring, Harold lived in Port Washington and Saukville before settling in Belgium. Mr. Murphy was a member of the Unitarian Church North in Mequon, as well as the Waubeka VFW Post 7037.  Murph’s grandchildren were his greatest joy. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking nature walks around Puckett’s Pond and the Quarry Lake at Harrington Beach. n grandchildren: Lena, Billy, Morgan, Jordan, Eric, Sarah and Jonathan; 2 sisters: Bernice (the late Henry) Mitchell of Irma, WI and Dorothy (the late Bill) Ford of Dyer Indiana, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 4PM on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Unitarian Church North, 13800 N. Port Washington Road in Mequon. Military Honors will take place at the church following services.  The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 2-4PM. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium is assisting the family with arrangements.
