Joyce Marie Thompson

Joyce Marie Thompson, 78, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Seasons Hospice House. Joyce was born February 27, 1941 on a farm near Troy, MN to Cyril and Thea (Narveson) Ahern. She was a graduate of Spring Valley High School. Joyce did secretarial work for The University of Minnesota in the Cancer Detection Center and also for Dayton's Department Stores. On August 26, 1961, she married Conrad Thompson at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, MN. Joyce had a green thumb and loved growing flowers in her home greenhouse. She had an appreciation for semi-classical and organ music, loved nature and had a passion for all animals, especially dogs. Joyce was a sweet, kind and honest woman. She was known for her great sense of humor and her big beautiful smile. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Conrad; siblings, Janet Leary, Shirley Hrstka and Dale Ahern. Her memory will also be cherished by her many adoring nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Ahern and by her parents, Cyril and Thea.
