Thomas James Hogan

Mr. Tom Hogan, of West Bend, formerly of Fredonia, passed away Sunday morning, May 29, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old. Tom was born November 4, 1934 in Chicago, IL, the son of Thomas and Harriet Gundeck Hogan. After high school, Tom earned a degree in chemistry from Kansas University in Lawrence, KS. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1956. On May 4, 1957 he was united in marriage with Arlene Schaller in Midlothian, IL. She preceded him in death in 1988. On July 17, 1992 he was united in marriage with Janet (nee Watry) Landvatter in Fredonia. Tom was a chemist at DeSoto as well as Park Labs in Fredonia, and later worked as a postal worker at the Fredonia Post Office. Tom was a devoted member of Holy Rosary Parish, St. Rose Chapel in Fredonia, as well as a charter member and long time supporter of the Fredonia Lion's Club. He was a generous supporter of the Ozaukee County Food Pantry, a regular member of the "bull-sitters" coffee club and enjoyed fishing, stamp collecting, gardening, traveling, shopping, old movies, having coffee with his friends and spending time with his family. Tom is survived by his wife Janet of West Bend, four children: Thomas E. of Saukville, Michael (fiancé Sheila Kidwell) of West Bend, Karen (Steve) Girard of West Bend and Mary Kay (Paul) Minnis of Green Bay and four step-children: Rhonda (Rod) Oldenburg of Janesville, Paul Landvatter of AZ, Tim (Deanne) Landvatter of Milwaukee and Daryl (Julie) Landvatter of West Bend. He is further survived by 23 grandchildren: Christopher, Patrick, Timothy & Ashley Hogan, Michael (Sara) Hogan, Zak, Jessie, Julie & Stephan Girard, Derek, Mandy & Jack Lynch, Ben, Katie & Johnny Minnis, Jacob Oldenburg, Niki & Adam Neu, Shawna, Ryan, Megan & Kayla Landvatter and Gene (Natalie) Johnson; great-grandchildren Alison Hogan and Amelie Johnson; sister Pat (Ed) Kwiatkowski of Chicago, sisters-in-law: Delores Tock of Kewaskum, Rosie (Frank) Pozy of Kewaskum, Mildred (John) Lanswer of CA, Monica (Jim) Schulz of Nekossa, WI, Ginny (Dick) Junge of Silver Creek, Janice Phillips of Plain, WI, Elaine (Ervin) Karrels of Port Washington and Sue (Tim) Newman of MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Arlene and great-granddaughter Linzzie Hogan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4PM on Wednesday, June 1 at Holy Rosary Parish, St. Rose Chapel, 305 Fredonia Ave. in Fredonia. He will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery with military honors. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 1-4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Fredonia Lion's Club. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
