Jack Hauser, 87, of Johnston, Iowa passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Mercy Hospice, Johnston.
Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation is scheduled for 3pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 4pm. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Jack Clifford Hauser was born on March 2, 1932, in Johnston, Iowa; he was the son of Owen Kenneth and Beulah Beatrice (Shinn) Hauser. Jack graduated from Johnston High School then earned a diploma after attending Drake and Grandview College. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. On June 11, 1955 Jack was united in marriage to Edith Voertmann in St Louis, Mo and they made Johnston their home. Jack worked for Iowa Power and Light Co retiring as a Senior Gas Engineer Technician after 32 years of service designing gas distribution systems. Jack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith; children, Janice (Steve) Haag, Steven (Karla) Hauser and Jacki (James) Strawbridge; grandchildren Andrea, Joshua, Rebekah, Loraina, Trent, Chrisanne, Alissa and Dane; and 7 great-grandchildren.
