Donald A. Nelson

Donald A. Nelson, age 93, died on August 19, 2019 in Knoxville, Tennessee, with his loving family at his side. Born in Gary, South Dakota, to Arthur and Nettie Nelson, Don lived in many areas of the country, including Alameda, California, Sun Lakes and Prescott, Arizona, and Knoxville, Tennessee. He led a full and happy life, devoted to his family. He had a long and prosperous career and was a lifelong learner. His love of travel with his family and outdoor recreation provided fulfillment and joy throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Marian N. Nelson, in October of 2015, and daughter, Georgene K. Tipton, in August of 2014. Don is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving daughter, Barbara N. Shipman; grandchildren, Meghan Jagnow and husband Matthew, Nelson Shipman, Sarah Tipton and husband Stephan, Lisa Tipton-Wiles and husband Chad; great-grandchildren, Lexi Wiles and Cruz Wiles, and many extended family members and friends. The family will be celebrating his life quietly, as he requested.
