Funeral Home: Canale Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Services
David Bruce Jokela, December 10, 1952 to October 2, 2017, AKA Dr. Banner, Dr. Bruce Banner, & The Incredible Hulk. David was born in the Negaunee/Ishpeming area to the late William and Gladys Jokela. Not much is known about David’s earlier life but we’re sure he brought joy to everybody he met. David came to know his new family in 2010. This family welcomed him with open arms. He was the sweetest, kind gentleman that a woman could ever meet. He was always telling “his women” how much he loved them and that he would “marry you someday.” He loved to give hugs and was very protective of his “women” when other men were around. He was full of compliments. You could not be around David and at some point smile/laugh because of some of the things that he said. He was a very active man. The most common names were: Curly eyes, Curly hair, Old man, Big guy. He loved to talk. He talked about his family all the time and how he missed them greatly. He loved to go to Pizza Hut to get pizza with meatballs. He loved going to the store to get his goodies which consisted of a Mountain Dew, 2 coloring books, and 2 boxes of Minty mints (Junior Mints). He would color a small portion of a picture, tear the page out of the book and do the same thing on the next page. Hence why he went to the store EVERYDAY and got 2 more coloring books. David led a very long and productive life. He lived life to the fullest everyday. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His “tall legs” will miss him greatly as well as all of his “curly eyes,” “curly hair,” “big guys,” and “old men.” David was preceded in death by his parents William and Gladys Jokela. A small memorial gathering will take place October 19, 2017 from 10:00am-12:00pm at 129 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI in the conference room. Anybody who knew of David is welcome to come to share stories of this amazing soul. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. May you “dance in the moonlight.” The Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com
