The most common names were: Curly eyes, Curly hair, Old man, Big guy. He loved to talk. He talked about his family all the time and how he missed them greatly. He loved to go to Pizza Hut to get pizza with meatballs. He loved going to the store to get his goodies which consisted of a Mountain Dew, 2 coloring books, and 2 boxes of Minty mints (Junior Mints). He would color a small portion of a picture, tear the page out of the book and do the same thing on the next page. Hence why he went to the store EVERYDAY and got 2 more coloring books. David led a very long and productive life. He lived life to the fullest everyday. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His “tall legs” will miss him greatly as well as all of his “curly eyes,” “curly hair,” “big guys,” and “old men.” David was preceded in death by his parents William and Gladys Jokela. A small memorial gathering will take place October 19, 2017 from 10:00am-12:00pm at 129 W. Baraga Avenue, Marquette, MI in the conference room. Anybody who knew of David is welcome to come to share stories of this amazing soul. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. May you “dance in the moonlight.” The Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home is assisting the family where memories may be shared at canalefuneral.com
