MARK DAVID PARENT

Mark David Parent, 54, of Marquette, passed away Thursday evening, September 6, 2018 at his home after suffering from chronic illnesses for over 10 years. Mark was born on January 28, 1964 in Marquette to the late Harvey and Nancy (Lyons) Parent and was a lifelong area resident. Mark graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1982 and then enlisted in the Army National Guard where he ultimately served for 25 years. He received a nursing degree from Northern Michigan University and a physician assistant degree while serving with the Army National Guard. Mark was formerly employed at Marquette General Hospital, Bell Hospital and the NMU Health Center. He was a World War II enthusiast, constructing airplane models and tanks in his free time. He also owned Parent Gunsmithing since 2012, but had been a gunsmith for many years. Preceding him in death besides his parents was a brother, Bill Parent. A time of remembering will take place on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home in Marquette.
