or his enjoyments in life which included traveling, playing bridge, collecting, watching sports, walking and keeping up on current events. George recently became suddenly ill and became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom where he passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, July 10, 2010, at the wonderful age of 90. While living in Heron Lake, George was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake where he served on the church board, choir, and taught CCD. After moving to Windom he became a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom. He also was involved in his community as a 4-H leader, the Golden "K", a member of the Heron Lake Municipal Hospital Board, member of the American Legion Post 214 in Heron Lake while living there and a current member of the American Legion Post 206 in Windom, the community club in Heron Lake, the Windom City Council, active in the 8th District of the Minnesota Association of Postmasters and a member of the National Association of Postmasters of he United States (NAPUS). George is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Helen Freking of Windom; four children, Lenore (Rick) Wendorff of Fulda; Dr. Dan (Sharon) Freking of Edina; Doug (Jennifer) Freking of Atlanta, GA; Joe (Pam) Freking of Arden Hills; nine grandchildren, Laura Meyer, Sarah Vortherms, Jenna Wendorff, Ben, Will, Maria, Michael, Terra and Jamie Freking; three great-grandchildren, Alex and Sam Meyer and Max Vortherms; three sisters, Margaret Henkels of Heron Lake; Sister Marcan Freking, OSF of Rochester; Anastasia Mathias of Heron Lake and many other relatives and friends. George is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Monica Bartosh, William Freking, Clementine Berg, Joseph Freking, Mary Bauman, Alois Freking, Lawrence Freking, Rose Liepold, Leo, Clotilda, Bishop Frederick Freking, Josephine Kreger, August, Alfred and Edward Freking.
