O, all the money that e'er I spent, I spent it in good company,And all the harm that I ever did, Alas it was to none but me.Daniel Barrett Musick, 65, of Morgantown, died early Monday morning, July 4, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.Born September 14, 1950 in Columbia, MO, he was the son of the late Archie Leroy Musick and the late Irene Jane Kolodziej Musick.Survivors include his loving wife, Susan Elizabeth Holt Musick; step-daughter Mary Colleen McCarthy Eld, her husband Michael John Eld and their son, Christopher Andrew Eld of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Patricia Ruth Musick of Fairmont, WV and Colorado Springs, CO; numerous cousins including Kurt Wilner, Wayne Wilner, Roger Wilner, Gwendolyn Jackson, and Rainey Horvath, as well as other extended family members.Daniel attended Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Art from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and attended University of Denver for graduate studies in library sciences.He was a gifted musician from his early childhood. He embodied the magician Prospero from The Tempest, a role he played in high school theatre.Among his strong interests were reading, hiking, exploring, writing, building musical instruments, woodworking, listening to music of every sort, the study of music and musical instrument history, and reading poetry. He did leatherworking, made longbows and arrows and had a strong interest in all aspects of Celtic cultures. Daniel was an intriguing conversationalist. His contagious enthusiasm turned many people on to his interests.From early childhood, he was involved with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. He and his wife served as delegates to the General Assembly for several years. He was also active in the Society for Creative Anachronism, where he was known as "Jaffrez-Yann de Montcorbier."He will be fondly remembered as a supremely wonderful husband - and a kind and loving gentleman who never used ridicule or sarcasm to hurt anyone.An informal gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 10:45 AM at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Morgantown, following the regular service.Professional services are under the direction of Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown.
