Lois B. Heaton

Lois B. Fucilli Heaton, 64, of 63 Harrison Avenue, Newport, RI, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at home with her family. She was the wife of James Buddy Heaton.Born in Newport, RI on August 11, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Tulio D. and Grace Kennedy Fucilli.Mrs. Heaton was a 1963 graduate of Rogers High School then graduated from RI College in 1967 earning both her bachelors and masters degree. She taught English at North Smithfield High School and later at Scituate High School, retiring in 1994. Lois was a published and prize winning Poet. She was an avid bicyclist, loved sailing, skiing and traveling. Mrs. Heaton was a member of the Newport Yacht Club, the writers circle and a local poetry group.Besides her husband of 42 years, she is survived by her son Christopher J. Heaton and his wife Sarah of Newport, RI, her brother Harold Harry D. Fucilli and his wife Pat of Middletown, RI, her sister-in-law Rosanne Esposito and her husband Gary of Newport, RI, her brother-in-law William and his wife Claire Heaton of Gloucester, RI and several nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by her in-laws James C. and Anna M. ill be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.
