Janet Lee Nelson

Jan graduated from Gilbert High School in 1962, then attended cosmetology school. Jan was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

Jan was united in marriage with to Kenny Nelson on November 24th, 1998. Kenny and Jan shared 18 years of marriage.

Jan worked at Hach Company for 20+ years. During retirement she enjoyed watching the Food Network, NASCAR racing, Cyclone and Hawkeye sports, and spending time with her group of girlfriends.

Her favorite time of year was Christmas, she loved baking Christmas cookies and candy, Christmas decorating, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed hunting and cooking morel mushrooms, (but actually disliked eating them herself). She also spent many years at Lake Cornelia, making memories with family and friends.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and her parents. She is survived by her brother Mike (Susie) Clouser of West Des Moines, Iowa, loving children, Kim (Jason) Hambly of Vinton, Iowa and Todd (Nicole) Jorgensen of Gilber...[more]

Iowa; grandchildren, Megan (Greg) Annis of Marion, Iowa, Logan and Luke Jorgensen.

There will be no visitation or memorial service per Jan's wishes. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
