John Roy Lahvic "Jack" age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 1, 2020. He was born November 21, 1935 in Cook County, Illinois to Roy and Margaret Lahvic. John served in the U.S. Navy reserves and was a member of the VFW. He was involved in the building of Red Rock Dam in Pella Iowa, and owned and operated a Sinclair Gas Station in the 1970's. He was a volunteer of the Oskaloosa Police Department. He retired in 2003 from the Donaldson Corporation Muffler plant where he worked as a forklift driver and material handler. He loved all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley A Lahvic, children: Larry (Patsy) Lahvic of Florida, Lynda (Harry) Peterson of Illinois, Robert (Debra) Lahvic of Iowa, Jacquilyn (Brian) Anseeuw of Illinois, Joseph (Sherri) Lahvic of Missouri, Mark (Chris) Lahvic of Iowa, twenty-one grandchildren and forty seven great grandchildren, and a sister: Nancy (Tom) Borman.

parents, two sons: Roy and Michael Lahvic, two granddaughters: Kari and Kendra Lahvic, a sister: Joan Luzadder, and a brother: Donald Lahvic.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10:00 am in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Troy Richmond officiating. Burial will be in the Garrett Cemetery near Delta, Iowa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. According to the rules put in place by the Iowa Department of Public Health, proper social distancing and reasonable personal protective equipment is advised for attending a religious public event. The graveside service will be live streamed at the funeral home's YouTube Channel for those wishing to support the family from a distance. Visitation will begin Friday after 12:00 noon in the Bates Funeral Chapel. The family will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm to greet friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
