g " !! But we all know our brother Frank is the one, the FAV, as we call him lol. .and we are okay with that !! In addition to her modeling, mom sang around the Rochester area at various night clubs. My parents were members of Ridgemont Counrty Club where she also sang for dinner parties and other events. They also made sure they got a few rounds of golf in! She had a stellar voice, and was always singing around the house. Both my parents were major Frank Sinatra fans and thus was transferred to us !! We heard it so much we didn't have a choice ! Actually Im glad because, we love his voice, and we all play his music to this day. We learned how to play golf at Ridgemont as well, fun times. We loved to hear her sing, always made the Happy Birthday song like a ballad !! As you can see, she had many talents. A keen sense of humor, a super good cook and a nutrionist in her own way. Cooking healthy was important to her. Many veggies with every meal, no soda and minimal junk food. That is why all of us are healthy to this day....a strong beginning/foundation. A few other tidbits. Mom always knew when we arrived home late, no matter how quiet we were! She had super hearing until the end and would say. "I can hear that " !!! She was a jazzy lady as one of my friends told me. Always dressed sharp, matching , hair in place and always lipstick !!! She said lipstick brightens up a woman's face ...spoken like a true model !! Oh, she was a big fan of yellow roses, good choice mom ! Mom was our guiding light in the calm or storms of life. She alway had a hug to give and a warm smile. There are numerous memories, too many to mention here. We will have those memories tucked away in a safe place when we need her strength. One tradition my parents had with my grandparents was as follows: When Non and Bop would leave from an event at the house, for example, they would shout out...Cali Lillies !!!! Im uncertain where this came from, but it was and is super cool !! Upon searching about the flower, it states it comes from the Greek word beauty, a stunning appearance. Also a symbol of Jesus' resurrection and depicted with the Virgin Mary. Wow that is so wild and appropriate. When we would visit mom, while leaving we would shout out this beautiful tradition. I think we definitely will keep this going in our family. An honor. So mama, you were our gem and shinning star. Thank you for your protection, and our safe haven to come home to. Most importantly, your unconditional love and of course the best chow ever !! We will be seeing you in all our familiar places...... CALI LILLIES !!!! With Love and Hugs, The Big Six A service will be held Saturday, August 8th, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Family and friends can meet at the Lake Ave. entrance at 10:15am.
