s to Marquart Block in 1999 to retire. In his younger days, Frank enjoyed fancy cars and seeing who could get to their destination first. We ran across an article from the Times Republican, "Bull is Winner in Set-to with Auto"> Guessing it was 1949-50. Here is how the story unfolds.... A bull came out the winner in a set-to Saturday night with Frank Tichy, who lives several miles north of Marshalltown, in Taylor Township. Tichy who was driving a 1938 Ford sedan, in which two other passengers were riding, was returning home from Marshalltown on the Albion Road about 11 PM. He had just crossed the Center Street Bridge over the Iowa River and was driving slowly when some cattle loomed up before him and attempted to cross the road. The car knocked down one of them, a bull and then came to a stop on top of him. Tichy and companions climbed out of the machine to investigate the damage and extricated the bull, which soon got up and walked away. Tichy said his car was badly damaged. He has not yet learned the name of the owner of the cattle. No one in the car suffered injuries. I do believe there is a bit of bull Some where in this story. When he settled down with Maxine to raise the kids, they took up bowling, camping and some service club associations, Eagles and Moose lodges to name a few and sponsored softball, bowling teams along with many other adventures over their years together. Frank was an avid reader, always sharing info that he gathered about something you were involved in. And a good one to get advice from on any topic. He enjoyed being a landlord and most of his tenants have remained a part of his extended family for many years. Up until the day before he passed, he was making calls for some repairs caused by the most recent storm. Although he was slowing down in recent months, he never complained and in his own words, "Every day is a good day". Frank will be missed by his family, three daughters, Beth (Lonnie) Barnes, Marshalltown, and children, Chad (Sara) Barnes, Brandon (Mike Esdicul) Barnes, and Taylor (Logan) Barnes; Jacki (Gary) Bolar of Marshalltown, and children, Joel (Tracy) Bolar, Paige (Blake) Rhodes, Todd (Amy) Bolar, and Alison (Dennis) Noe; Linda Roth of Farmer City, Illinois, and children, Scott Holoch, Kevin (Maria) Holoch, Tracey (Londa) Holoch and Chris Roth; one son, Robert (Sally) Mancieri, Marshalltown, and children, Alaysha (Cory) Craven, Severio Mancieri, and Max (Brianna Castellanos) Mancieri; daughter in law, Robin Mancieri , Marshalltown and children, Nicole (Aaron) Jones, Miles (Lauren) Mancieri, and Jay (Daniela) Mancieri, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren.
