Bonita Bonnie L. Micanek

Micanek (Sennert), Bonita L. "Bonnie" 72, passed away on Saturday September 14, 2019 at Josie Harper Hospice House. She was the wife of Harold G. Micanek. They shared 50 years of marriage. Bonnie was born to Lester and Deloris Sennert on February 9, 1947 in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, Iowa. Bonnie is the second oldest of four siblings: the oldest sister, Sharon (Ken) Lade of Powder Springs, Georgia, and two younger brothers James of Spencer, Iowa and William (Mary) of Bismarck, North Dakota. Bonnie graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1969 with a BA in Library Science and taught in Yutan before starting a family. On March 23, 1969 Bonnie married Harold Micanek. Bonnie helped Harold run Harolds Mobile Home Service until 2003, when they retired. Harold and Bonnie have lived in Elkhorn for 49 years, where they raised 3 sons, all of Omaha. The oldest, Cory Micanek, was born January 16, 1971. July 24, 2015. The youngest Chris Micanek was born April 24, 1979, he has one daughter Kathy, and grandson Sterling. Harold and Bonnie split their time in the summer between their residence in Elkhorn and the family farm in Lynch, NE which was established in 1891. They have spent winters in La Feria, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley for 20+ years. Guests will be welcomed Wednesday, September 18 from 1:30 to 3pm, with 3pm Memorial Service at Bethany Lutheran Church, Elkhorn, NE.
