James A. Wallace, age 74, of Washington, passed away at 12:40 AM on Sunday at Daviess Community Hospital He was born on September 6, 1942 in Montgomery to Lewis and Winifred (Summers) Wallace. He graduated from Montgomery High School in 1960 and was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the Washington American Legion and VFW. He retired from Bill Dobson Ford -Mercury as a detailing specialist. He loved cutting grass, both for himself and others, painting pictures, and detailing automobiles. He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Purcell) Wallace whom he married on April 18, 1965; one daughter, Michele Wallace-Wright; two grandchildren, Ella Bailey and Jac Bailey both of Huntingburg; and two sisters, Jackie Mellinger of Florida and Gail Cambell of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nancy Connell; and one brother, Lew Wallace. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Surgarland Memory Gardens with Military Graveside Rights by the Washington American Legion and VFW. .
