Brenda Kay Freeland Peterson

Mrs. Brenda Kay Freeland Peterson, 77, of Advance, died Saturday, October 10, 2020. She was born February 19, 1943, in Charlotte to the late Lester Julius and Mary Kathleen Kiser Freeland. A devout Christian, Brenda served the Lord faithfully. Her devotion to God's purpose for her life and her devotion to her family equipped her with a strong work ethic and unrivaled determination. Brenda's belief was, quite literally, God had called her to "care for His flock." She successfully owned and operated numerous assisted living facilities across the country. It was not uncommon to walk the halls of these facilities and hear residents asking about her. She touched many of their lives and her life mission was to care for them. She also held the congregation of Bixby Presbyterian Church close to her heart. She shared pain and triumph with these brothers and sisters and cared for them as is God's will is for His children. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, Rev. F.P. Sharing in their grief are her special children through her marriage to Pete: Cheryl Barrett (Bruce), Jon Peterson (Bonnie), and Bob Peterson (Sara); and countless more treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will remember and cherish her love for God, her family, chocolate chip cookies, the wildflowers on the side of the road during spring, the magnificent changing colors of the leaves in the fall, and the absolute magic she brought to Christmas time. Mom's wish would be for us to celebrate her victory over death! In the spirit of that request, the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Bixby Presbyterian Church in Advance. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm. If unable to attend the services, the family invites friends to come by Lambert Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 13, anytime between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. At the request of the family, please be mindful of social distancing and wear face covering.
