   Harold Laverne, son of Thomas Theodore and Minnie Mae (Hardie) Pomeroy, was born June 25, 1915 on the family farm south of Dedham, Iowa.  He grew up on the farm, attended a country school and graduated from Viola High School in 1932.

   On April 17, 1940, Harold was united in marriage with Verna Louise Watrous in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.  Harold and Verna farmed his familys farm south of Dedham. In 1977 they retired and moved into Coon Rapids.

   Harold and Verna were active members of the Methodist Church in Dedham until it closed. They then moved their membership to the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids.  Harold was always active in his community as well.  He was a member of the Dedham Coop board for many years, a member of the Carroll County ASC committee for 25 years and served on the Democratic Party county committee.  Harold and Verna met at a dance and they continued to attend dances for many years.  His hobbies also include fishing, hunting and playing cards.

   Harold experienced a decline in health after Vernas death in 2006, and on Sunday, May 6, 2007, he died at St. Anthony Regional Hospital.  He was 91 years, 10 months and 11 days of age.

   Besides his parents and wife, Harold was preceded in death by brothers Alfred and Merle Pomeroy and sisters Vera Parker, Margaret Flook and Thelma Koester.

   He is survived by his daughter Lee Ann Madison of Troy, IL; son Larry Pomeroy and wife Mary Anne of Audubon; two grandchildren Jaime and husband Paul Tigges of Carroll and Cody Pomeroy and friend Nikki LaFoy of Ankeny; great-granddaughter Ava Tigges of Carroll; sisters-in-law Bernice Pomeroy of Dedham; Ora Lea Bob Watrous of Coon Rapids; and Neva and husband Kenneth Wood of West Des Moines; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
