Russell Edward "Wick" Kirk, 81, of Morgantown passed away late Friday evening, October 30, 2020 at Mon Health Medical Center. Wick was born December 3, 1938 in Morgantown and was a son of the late Charles Kirk and Inez Kirk Deeley and her husband Jack. Survivors include his daughter, Chele Kirk Varner and her husband Rick of Blacksville; a grandson, Kirk Varner; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Taylor and her husband Bob of Hondo, TX; a special cousin, Amber Murray and her family of Morgantown; and two nephews Bob Taylor and Rich Taylor. Also, Wick is survived by a bonus daughter who he lovingly referred to as his "tall" daughter, Erica Janes-McCarty of Smithtown. His beloved wife of nearly 61 years, Sarah Louella "Tee Tee" DeWitt Kirk, preceded him in death on March 15, 2020. Wick was a graduate of Morgantown High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was also stationed in France. Following his time in the military, Wick returned home and became a Deputy Sheriff with the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office for many years, and later became the Assistant Coordinator of Project Lifesaver. He was a proud member of the Morgantown Union Lodge #4, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Osiris Shrine and a member of the Mountaineer Patrol Unit. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Wick held memberships in the Morgantown Moose Lodge, the Morgantown VFW Post 548, Westover VFW Post 9916 and the Monongalia Wireless Association. Friends may join the family to honor Wick's life & legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover / Morgantown on Wednesday, November 4th from 2:00 - 8:00 PM and again on Thursday, November 5th from 12 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM officiated by Pastor Charles Bowers. Following the funeral service, he will be entombed with his wife in the Everlasting Life Mausoleum at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, where Full Military Honors and Masonic Funeral Rites will be accorded at the tomb. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing in Wick's memory to Project Lifesaver, C/O Monongalia County Sheriffs Office, 116 Walnut St., Morgantown, WV 26505.
