Pearl Elizabeth Kessel was born December 10, 1932, in Lakota, daughter of John and Maude (McDougle) Farrow. She grew up in Lakota graduating high school in 1952. Pearl was united in marriage to Eugene E. Kessel on December 7, 1959 at the Presbyterian Church in Lakota.
Pearl worked as a cook at the Heritage Nursing Home in Bancroft for 20 plus years. She loved listening to gospel music. She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, and crocheting. She became a resident of Accura Healthcare (Heritage Home) in November, 2019. She died there on Monday, November 9, 2020 at the age of 87.
She is survived by her son, David Kessel of Lakota; a grandson, Zackery Kessel of Sumner, WA; two adopted step-granddaughters, Ashley and Jeanette; a sister, Shirley (Larry) Lappe of Algona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene on March 17, 2017; a daughter, Rebecca Kessel; 8 brothers; and 5 sisters, Orville, Florence, Rose, Maurice, Irven, Ben, Bud, Hazel, Darlene, Merwin, Mary, Milton, and Donald.
Private family graveside services will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Lakota, at a later date.
