most memorably enjoyed picking raspberries in the backyard at her house on Princess Lane and watching birds at her condo in North Muskegon. Jean was very active in volunteering at Samuel Lutheran Church, and the non-profit organization, Love, Inc. She loved children and spent time as a Foster Grandmother with Muskegon Public Schools. Jean also held the title of "Greater Muskegon Mother of the Year" in 1989. All volunteering efforts were fueled by her constant love for being near her family and her desire to help those in need. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Schmidt, brothers, Raymond Williams, Norris Williams, and sisters, Marian Ridgeway, Margaret DeGlopper and Grace Kolling. She is survived by her sons and daughters: Joy Campbell (Doug) of Hesperia, Steve Schmidt (Susan) of Kalamazoo, Peggy Rop (Stan) of North Muskegon, Mike Schmidt (Josefina) of El Paso, TX, Suzanne Spence (Mark) of Cypress, TX; by her 10 cherished grandchildren: Julie Pederson (Tim) MI, Matt Campbell (Jenn) MI, Ryan Campbell (Maja) FL, Jeff Rop (Mary) MN, Kevin Rop MI, Mandi Woods (Jackson) WA, Michael Schmidt TX, Michelle Schmidt TX, Rebecca Spence CO, and Sarah Spence TX; and by her 9 loving great-grandchildren: Colin, Jacob, Aiden, Zander, Ellie Jean, Elliott, Jordan, Justin and Madison. Jean is also survived by her brother, Glenn Williams (Sue) NC, Niece Karin Howell (Dave) of Spring Lake, and other special nieces and nephews.
