Allen J. Blake of Lu Verne, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the age of 94, at the Good Samaritan Society in Algona, Iowa, where he and his wife were residents since 2017. Allen was born on September 23, 1926, to Oral and Stella (Robison) Blake in Marshalltown, Iowa. He married Eunice E. Langbehn October 15, 1944 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from the Marshalltown, Iowa high school and in 1949 graduated from the Kansas City College of Mortuary Science, Kansas City, Kansas. Allen was a World War II army veteran serving from 1944 - 1946. He was a paratrooper with the 503rd battalion, 11th airborne and served in the 31st General Hospital in the Philippines. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. Allen and his family lived in Rockford, Iowa for several years before moving to Lu Verne, Iowa, in 1955. He and his wife owned funeral homes in Lu Verne, Renwick, Corwith, Wesley, and Titonka until 1982, when the business was sold to Oakcrest Funeral Services.He was a lay minister and active member of the United Methodist Church; member of the Shriners, Masons, and Order of the Eastern Star; 50 plus years member of the Iowa Funeral Directors Associat...[more]

; and Former member of the Professional Golfers of America. Golf was one of his greatest interests. He was a golf pro, gave lessons, and made custom golf clubs. Allen is survived by his wife Eunice of Algona; 3 children: Richard (Raisa) Blake, Sioux City, IA; Suzanne (Robert) Golling, Eagan, MN; Robert (Manny Ababat) Blake, Arlington, TX - 2 grandchildren: Juan (Katy) Blake, Lawton, IA, Luisa (T.J. Fennell), Sioux City, IA; 2 greatgrandchildren: Casey and Josie Blake Lawton, IA; brother, Donald Blake, Milan, MI, sisters-in-law, Mary Blake, Overland Park, KS; Audrey Fields, Clinton, IL, and brother-in-law, Harold Langbehn, Dysart, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Barbara and 4 brothers: Wallace, Roger, Walter and Gary. Private family services will be held at this time with interment in the Green Mountain Cemetery in Green Mountain, IA.
