Samuel Joseph Smith, age 31, was called home on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, after a short illness. Sam was born and raised in St. Augustine, Florida, along with his best friend, his brother Scott, who preceded him in death. Sam & Scott were mischievous rascals who loved camping and fishing with family and friends. Sam's wit and sarcasm were always uplifting and Sam cared deeply for others, especially the underdog. Sam had an infectious smile and a positive impact on all who were fortunate enough to encounter him. Sam married the love of his life, Michelle McKay Smith, on August 16, 2014 and she became his fishing buddy. Sam was smart; he could do ANYTHING, skilled in construction, welding, and mechanics. He loved dogs, fishing, and making people laugh, and Sam was a momma's boy. Sam also completely loved his baby sister Delaney and imparted his love of fishing onto her. In addition to his brother Scott, Sam was preceded in death by his loving great-grandmothers Nana Teresa and Nana Dot and his grandfather Pop.
