Patricia Ann Simpson

Patricia Ann "Patti" (Karabatsolis)Simpson, age 70 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at MercyOne in Des Moines. A visitation will take place on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Masks are required for all attending the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com Patti was born to Nicholas John and Lillian Lousie (Sheehan) Karabatsolis on May 10, 1950. She attended Tech High School in Des Moines, graduating with the class of 1968. In the fall of 1968she started dating her soulmate, William "Bill" Simpson. They were wed in Monroe, Iowa on May 3, 1969. Patti stayed home to raise their two boys in Monroe.When the boys got a little older, Patti started driving a school bus as a substitute in Monroe, eventually driving full time for Knoxville for many years. Those left to cherish and share her memory include her husband of over 51 years, Bill Simpson; her sons, Thomas Lee (Tami) of Humboldt and William Brett of Walnut; a sister, Pamela of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Miranda, Emma, Christian, Olivia, Addison, Cade and Thomas; her beloved rescue, Twitch and her granddogs, Remi, Dexter, Alli and Aggi. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother and a sister, Peggy.
