Doris Elaine Beer

Doris Elaine (Bauge) Beer, 88, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. She was born on January 30, 1932, in Reeve Township, Franklin County, Iowa, to William Albert and Lenora (Deam) Bauge. Doris attended first thru seventh grade at Stony Point Ross Township country school in Franklin County, and eighth thru high school in Hampton, graduating from Hampton High School. After graduation, she worked for Grahams Department Store and Franklin County Soil Conservation as office secretary. On December 6, 1952, Doris was united in marriage to John Beer at the Church of Christ in Hampton. Together they lived and worked on the family farm northeast of Hansell, while raising their three children; Teresa, Thomas and Timothy. After retiring from farming, Doris owned and operated the D & J Craft Store in Hampton. She and John moved to Weslaco, Texas, where they co-managed a mobile home park and enjoyed semi-retirement. and the time she spent with them, as well as working with all types of crafts, traveling, camping and square-dancing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Doris is survived by her sons Thomas (Deborah) and Timothy, grandchildren Magan Repp, Laura Beer and Pamela Beer Otto, step-grandchildren Daniel Book, Kevin Book and Edward Freland, great-grandchildren Kaylee and Ashton Otto, Alexi Beer, and Brittany, Brianna and Bridget Repp, and great great-grandchildren Charlotte Beer and Jonathan Thomas Beer. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Lenora, husband John, daughter-in-law Jan Beer and just recently her daughter Teresa Fisher. Those in attendance are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times during both the visitation and memorial service. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Church of the Living Word in Hampton with a visitation being held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will take place in the Hampton Cemetery.
