Funeral Mass for Don Froehlich will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, December 31st at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Air Force Honor Guard along with the Algona VFW and American Legion. Force and was first stationed in High Wycombe, England where he met his beloved wife, Ann Mary Clement. They were united in marriage on January 25, 1964 at High Wycombe Air Base. While Don served 20 years in the Air Force, they raised their family in England, California, New York, Sioux City, Michigan, Germany, Colorado, and finally settled back in Algona in 1978. Don then worked briefly at Sears before working at Snap-On until his retirement in March, 2003. Don's family and sports were his top priority. He loved golfing with family and friends. In his retirement years he worked hard at making sure the Algona Country Club Golf Course and swimming pool were in top shape. Don was an avid Bishop Garrigan School supporter, and enjoyed attending all sporting and arts events. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play sports. Don took pride in his lawn and enjoyed doing yard work. He also enjoyed sharing stories, watching movies and celebrating holidays with his family. Don passed away on December 22, 2020, at the age of 81. He is survived by his four children, Marie Froehlich Berke (Tim Erpelding) of Algona, Roger Froehlich and his wife Wendy of Algona, Bob Froehlich and his wife Hanna of Ankeny, and Stephen Froehlich (Elizabeth Nolting) of Logan; 10 grandchildren Kelsie (Rob) Carlson, Michael (Aralee Bogar), and Anna Berke, Justin and Ross Froehlich, Haley Tiffany, Cassandra Gade and Olivia Froehlich, Peyton and Kinnick Froehlich. Three great-grandchildren, Brooks Tiffany, Callen Carlson, and Amory Gulans-Gade. Don is the oldest of twelve children and is survived by eleven of them. Bonnie (Tom) Arndorfer, Judy Rosenmeyer, Lee (Kathee) Froehlich, Linda (Don) Besch, Margia (Dave) Zeimet, Tom (Linda) Froehlich, Jim (Jane) Froehlich, Bill (Marj) Froehlich, Robyn (Arnie) Gray, Jayne (Nick) Krieps, a step- sister LuAnn (Dave) Garnjobst; his brother-in-law, John Clement and his wife Suzanne of Sydney, Australia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann "Sweeties" on July 7, 2017; his parents Francis "Shrimp" Froehlich and Evelyn Froehlich Davidson; brother Oscar Froehlich; step-father Gordon Davidson; his parents-in-law Arthur and Phylis Clement; a brother-in-law, Jim Rosenmeyer; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Dean.
