Allan Lee Plantenga, Sr. age 70, passed away Christmas night at home. He was born September 15, 1950, in Grand Haven, to Henry and Bertha (Hoekstra) Plantenga, Sr., and married Martha Louise Pagacz on September 11, 2005, in Whitehall, MI. Al proudly served his country as a 1st Recon Marine in the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong resident of Spring Lake and owned and operated Plantenga's Dry Cleaners. Al was proud to be a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and also sang in the Lakeshore Barbershop Chorus. His other interests were golfing, water skiing and running marathons. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Martha Plantenga; son, Allan Lee (Kim) Plantenga, Jr.; daughter, Julie (Greg) Carlson; stepmother, Nancy Plantenga; three grandchildren: Nathan Plantenga, Emily Plantenga and Ryan Carlson; three sisters: Deb (Maureen) Eaton, Cindy (Tim) Hoffman and LeAnn (Rick) Glasser; three brothers, Richard (Cheryl) Plantenga, Bill Riley and Pete Riley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
