Mildred Jansen, age 96, of Quincy, died Friday, January 1, 2021, at 7:35 p.m. in her home.
Mildred was born May 27, 1924 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Tony and Edith Wiedeman Talken. She married Harold Jansen in Quincy, IL.
In her youth, Mildred had worked in a sewing factory. She had also been employed by Block and Kuhl department store as a waitress in the deli. Most of her time was spent as a farm wife taking care of her family. Mildred also volunteered at Blessing Hospital, where she worked in the Tea Room, delivered mail, and tended to the plants and flowers.
Survivors include two sons: Jim Jansen and Steve Jansen, both of Quincy; three grandchildren: Tasha (Stephen) Rutherford; Travis (Sarah) Jansen; and Heather Jansen; eight great grandchildren: Clara Rose, Thomas, Patrick, and Samuel Rutherford and Sophia, Gabriel, Eve, and Silas Jansen; her former daughter-in-law, Renae Welch Jansen; and several cousins.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside Services: 2:00 pm Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Calvary Cemetery.
