Elias Sausedo Moran

Elias Sausedo Moran, 69 (the angels called for him one day before his 70th birthday), of Buda, Texas passed away peacefully on the morning of January 3rd, 2021 in the care of Ascension Seton Hays, Kyle, Texas after a three-year battle with cancer. He was born in Austin, Texas to Salome Moran and Antonia Saucedo Moran on January 4th, 1951, he was the 6th of 9 siblings and the baby brother. Elias grew up in East Austin through his childhood and went to Palm and Govalle Elementary Schools, Allen Middle School, and Johnson High School. He left high school early to join the United States Marine Corp in 1969 during the Vietnam Era. All he ever wanted was to be a "good soldier". His military career was shortened by a shoulder injury sustained while in the Marines. Elias did not allow the injury to stop his career in the construction industry. Throughout high school he learned a lifelong trade working for the Thomison Family from Round Rock, Texas. He learned to be a hardworking laborer and eventually a brick and stone mason. onry contractor of his own in 1977. He worked as a masonry contractor for Tilson Custom Homes where you can find much of his beautiful work throughout Central Texas. His work include his own home and the homes of his son Kevin, daughter Monica, and granddaughter Marlise. He retired from the construction industry in 1991. After retiring from the masonry business Elias worked extremely hard to educate himself to become a Deacon for the Catholic Church. He was Ordained June 6, 1998. He then practiced and devoted his entire life to the church working for San Jose Catholic Church in South Austin among other churches in Central Texas including Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda. While working for the church he also enjoyed a parttime sales job with HEB Grocery Stores. After fully retiring in 2009 he enjoyed spending time with The Central Texas AMVETS Post 115 even helping with the Honor Guard. Elias married Elida Rodriguez in 1972 where he was able to meet his daughter Theresa Marie and son Kevin Ray, later having his own biological daughter Ellie Marie in 1974. Although their marriage did not sustain, he loved Elida until his last breath. He raised Kevin and Ellie as a single father and never remarried. His life was the ultimate example of a man with a hard work ethic and a devotion to Christ. He loved all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He taught them all to be grateful for what they had, always help others in need, be generous and giving especially to those that were less fortunate. He lived by these examples. Elias is survived by his former wife Elida Rodriguez of Austin, daughter Theresa Marie Rodriguez-Perez, of Austin, son Kevin Ray Rodriguez and wife Monica of Buda, daughter Ellie Marie Cantu and husband Mike of Selma, son Alfredo Rodriguez and wife Sofia of Ft. Worth, and son in law Tomas Arroyo of Buda. His grandchildren Valentine Elias Perez and wife Marisela, Manual Christopher Perez, Christian Stephen-Ray Martinez, Ava Marlise Rodriguez, Angelica Elizabeth Arroyo, Lourdres Anna "Lulu" Arroyo, Maria de Jesus Arroyo, Yoel Cantu, Isaac, Mia, Alfredo, Jr., Kayla, and Zamira. Great-grand children Paul, Illyanna, Valentine, Jr., Jasmine, and Daisy. Sister Elida Sepulveda and husband Ray, brother Adolfo Moran. Brother in Laws Bill Thiessen, Joe Milicia. Over 27 nieces and nephews and countless great and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandson Kevin Ray Rodriguez II, father and mother Salome and Antonia Moran, sisters Mary Jane Torres, Antonia "Toni" Thiessen, Barbara Milicia, Claudia Moran, brothers Salome Moran, Jr., Manuel Moran, nephew Edward Rodriguez. Elias will be missed by all, may he rest in peace.
