Darrell Fluke, 81 year old resident of Fort Ripley, MN, died Thursday, December 26 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN.A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home. The burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Darrell Edward Fluke was born September 2, 1932 in Hibbing , Minnesota to the late Edwin and Beulah (Cody) Fluke.Darrell enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on July 28, 1950 in Green Bay , Wisconsin . He served his country from the first day of the Korean War to the very last day of the war when he was honorably discharged on July 27, 1953 in San Diego , CA .Darrell attended St. Cloud State University and received his Masters Degree in secondary education and speech.Darrell taught English in Michigan and Moose Lake , MN , for a few years. He moved to Auburn , California in 1970 where he taught for a few years. He then worked as an electrical contractor for 15 years. njoyed photography, reading, watching Nova, classical music, science and acting.With his thirst for knowledge he was a constant student of life with a larger than life personality. Left to cherish his memory are his life-long friend, Marjory Van Nostrand of Fort Ripley, MN; children, Laura Fluke of Cedar Rapids, MN, David (Jamie) Fluke of McMinnville, OR, Katherine Fluke of England; sister, Marilyn Fluke of Mondovi, WI; sisters-in-law Annette Fluke and Chris Fluke; 6 grandchildren.And his beloved cat, Tennessee Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Beulah (Cody) Fluke and his brothers, Ken Fluke and Don Fluke.
