ler Chapel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Bloomington Grange, Bloomington Homemakers, National and Iowa State Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and Muscatine Area Retired Teachers Association. She was a former 4-H, Rural Youth, and Methodist Youth leader. In 1996 she was honored as an Outstanding Teacher in Iowa. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, teacher and friend who dedicated herself to serving others. She loved music, reading, writing, cooking and traveling. She was a multi-talented lady who did everything well. Survivors include a son, Bill Schmidt and his wife, Kathy, of Hebron, Ohio; two daughters, Sharon Steinke and her husband, Harley, of Tipton, and Joanne Massey of Muscatine; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister Gladys Meuller of Rock Island, Ill. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers.
