MARY RILEY MUSCATINE, Iowa - Mary A. Riley, 92, of Sterling House, 2807 Cedar St., died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Unity Hospital following a brief illness. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the St. Mathias Church. The Rev. John P. Gallagher will officiate. Pallbearers will her grandchildren, Terri Crosby, Michael Riley, Martha Orr, Kathryn Riley, Sarah Collins, Jennifer Riley-Vogel, Ted Riley, Pat Riley, Colleen Riley and John Riley. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home where a Rosary will be prayed by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Joan of Arc No. 524 at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish. Mrs. Riley was born on Oct. 27, 1908, in Iowa City, the daughter of Frank and Barbara Neuzil Machovec. The former Mary Agnes Machovec married Walter E. Riley on July 12, 1931, in Iowa City. She has resided in Muscatine since 1941, coming from Iowa City. Riley and his wife, Dorothy, of Muscatine; a daughter, Barbara Riley and her husband, James, of Tempe, Arizona; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Catherine M. Kouba, of Hills. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1963, four brothers and five sisters.
