BETTY GILLELAND MUSCATINE, Iowa - Betty Jane Gilleland, 81, of Muscatine, died Saturday, May 4, 2002, at Unity Hospital. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. Don Swanson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Gilleland was born August 21, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Jane Blanchet Johnson. She was a member of First Baptist Chuch. Survivors include five sons, James R. Gilleland, of Muscatine; Jack L. Gilleland and his wife, Vicki, of Muscatine; Jerry M. Gilleland, of Fruitland; Keith R. Gilleland, of Muscatine; Timothy G. Gilleland, of Muscatine; two daughters, Joan Reimers, of Muscatine; Jean Herlein, of Muscatine; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, George Suter, of Burlington; Lee Suter, of California; two sisters, Nada Suter, of Alaska; and Lea Aloe, of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Betty Jane and Gerald; one grandson, Justin. [more]
