Betty Bell LONE TREE, Iowa #45;- Betty A. Bell, 80, Lone Tree, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at the Lone Tree Health Care Center, Lone Tree, after an extended illness. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Presbyterian Church, Lone Tree. The Rev. Ann Rouse will officiate. Pallbearers are Dale Holmes, Chester Bell, Joe Carpenter, Bill Yakish, Michael Ford, Tim Colbert, John Colbert, Steve Colbert, Pat Colbert, Doug Colbert, Ron Calvert and Joe Petru. Burial will be at Lone Tree Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion after the burial. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home, Lone Tree. Memorials may be made to the United Presbyterian Church and the Lone Tree Fire and Rescue. Mrs. Bell was born Jan. 29, 1922, in rural Iowa City, the daughter of Ernest Y. and Maudie J. Watkinson Petru. She married Lester I. Bell Jan. 3, 1943, in Iowa City. She worked for Montgomery Wards, Iowa City, as a clerk and department manager, 1966-78, and also worked at Lone Tree Ross Dry Goods. ne Tree American Legion Auxiliary, the Fremont Homemakers and Lone Tree Women's Club. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Judith L. Grecian and her husband, Daryl, of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen M. Yakish and her husband, Lloyd, of Shellsburg and Irene D. Ford of Lone Tree; and a brother, John Petru and his wife, Donna, of Lime Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Dorothy Petru, Evelyn Carpenter and Lucille Colbert; and a brother in infancy.
