THEODORE SMITH MUSCATINE, Iowa - Theodore Smith, 93, of 3305 Mulberry Ave., died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Lutheran Homes. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. James Trosen of the Faith United Church of Christ will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason Wester, Troy Wester, Ryan Reifert, Richard Fitzpatrick and James Wester. Honorary Bearers will be Henry Kathrein, Maury Reed, Bob Zoller, Ken Schlipf, and Don Messenger. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Faith United Church of Christ or Lutheran Homes. Mr. Smith was born on June 11, 1909, in Stevenson, Michigan. He married Nan Ahrens on Aug. 10, 1940, in Nashua, Iowa, at the Little Brown Church. He graduated from the Kenosha High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin with a Batchelor of Science and Master of Science in Organic Chemistry. United Church of Christ, the Elks Lodge No. 304, and the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association. He loved photography, gardening and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Nan Smith of Muscatine; one son, Leary Smith and his wife, Judith, of Muscatine; two daughters, Sally Fitzpatrick and her husband, Richard, of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and Gail Wester and her husband, James, of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Verna Fee of Elmhurst, Ill. and Leona Warden of Three Oaks, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one grandson.
