Ruth Unruh TIPTON, Iowa #45;- Ruth Iola Unruh, 73, of 508 Orange St., Tipton, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Ron Lashmit will officiate. Pallbearers are Gene Moore, Gary Moore, Rusty Schroeder, Tom Hoffner, Dave Dettman and Billy Feddersen. Honorary pallbearers are Becky, Tiffany, Heather, Brandon, Brittany, Corey, Enca, Chantelle, Chelsey, Josh, Logan, Dalton and Danielle. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sycamore Center in Tipton or for heart research. Mrs. Unruh was born on Jan. 29, 1930, in rural Cedar County, the daughter of William C. and Linnie 'Mina' Wilhelmina Brinkman Dettman. She married Ray Carol Unruh on July 25, 1948, in Tipton. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1948. She retired from Oral B Laboratories after 30 years and she was a cook and housekeeper at the Sycamore Center, Tipton. Survivors include daughters, Brenda Vanscoy and her husband, Pete, of Tipton, Glenda Pitlik of Lisbon, Linda Thumma and her husband, Rick, of Tipton, Diane Duwa and her husband, John, of West Branch and Kelly Unruh and her husband, Pat, of Tipton; sons, Craig Unruh and his wife, Judy, and Scott Unruh and his wife, Donna, all of Tipton; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Alice Moore of Oskaloosa, Lillian Schroeder of Tipton and Shirley Hoffner of Clarence. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis Unruh; three brothers, William, Robert and Earl; a sister, Betty Feddersen; and special friend, Bob Last.
