Fred Zimmerman NEW BOSTON, Ill. #45;- Fred LaVerne Zimmerman 78, New Boston, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, Ill. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the United Methodist Church, Joy, Ill. The Rev. Richard Bishop will officiate. Burial will be at the Peniel Cemetery, rural Joy. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at the Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, where memorials may be left to Serenity Hospice or Joy United Methodist Church. Mr. Zimmerman was born on Oct. 26, 1924, in New Boston, the son of Joshua and Vivian Sloan Zimmerman. He married Phyllis Crawford on Dec. 11, 1949, in Aledo. She preceded him in death in 1980. He later married Ella 'Renne' McGinnis April 26, 1984, in Joy. He graduated from New Boston High School and attended Brown's Business School, Galesburg, Ill. After his schooling he was employed at the Joy State Bank and farmed in the New Boston area for more than 50 years. He also sold Burrus Seed Corn for several years. He enjoyed wintering in Arizona, loved dancing, shuffleboard and playing pool.
