ARLENE STANTON MUSCATINE, Iowa - Arlene G. Stanton, 83, a former resident of Hershey Manor, died Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Lutheran Homes. Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Rev. Brenda Goodall of the Musserville United Methodist Church will officiate. Casket Bearers will be Jeff Strause, T. J. Strause, Marshall Strouse, Richard Sawyer, Randy Axtell, and Gene Coyle. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Stanton was born on August 31, 1920, in Muscatine, the daughter of Fredrick and Elsie Loga Witkoske. She retired from Jupiter Department Store in 1985, after 23 years of employment. and Senior Circle. She was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. She loved to travel on senior bus trips and she loved to help people, especially at Hershey Manor. Survivors include three sons, Merle Strouse and his wife, Beverly, of Rolla, Missouri, Carl Strause and his wife, Darlene, of Yorkville, Illinois, and Glenn Stanton of Muscatine; three daughters, Char Thompson and her husband, Jasper, of Fruitland, Sandra Axtell and her husband, Randy, of Muscatine, and Sherry Coyle and her husband, Gene, of Oseola; one step-daughter, Sherry Stewart and her husband, Dale, of Morning Sun; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Albert Witkoske and Jake Lawrence, and one step-sister, Geraldine Wright.
