Carl Lange LETTS, Iowa #45;- Carl Lange, 80, Letts, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine. Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Ave., Muscatine. The Rev. Prince Swanickan will officiate. Casket Bearers are Lyle Eichelberger, Ralph Hoag, John Oberhaus, Mitch Guldenpfennig, Matt Guldenpfennig, Jerry Lamp and Brad Phillips. Honorary casket bearer is William Guldenpfennig. Burial will be at the Letts Cemetery. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Letts United Methodist Church. Visitation is 2-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Letts United Methodist Church. Mr. Lange was born July 19, 1923, in Muscatine County, the son of Daniel and Elsie E.E. Krueger Lange. He married Anita M. Bast June 3, 1945, in Muscatine. He graduated from Muscatine High School and also attended Muscatine Community College. He farmed his entire life in the Letts area. He also served on the Scott and Muscatine County Farm Service Board where he served as secretary for five years, was the past president of the Muscatine County Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau director and a voting delegate. He volunteered at the Letts Public Library and enjoyed fishing, farming and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a sponsor of his cousins, Walter and Wanda Kebernik, when they moved from Germany to the United States to become U.S. Citizens. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steven C. Lange of Muscatine, John D. Lange and Gary R. Lange and wife Sheree, all of Letts; a daughter, Mary J. Morrison and special friend Jim Greenwald of Letts; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy B. Bailey of Letts and Betty A. Houseman and husband James of Muscatine; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
