d volunteer work in Muscatine. Her motto being 'She who shuts her heart to the cry of others will herself call and not be heard'. She served on the board of the United Way, Family Resources, Big Brother/Big Sister, the Muscatine Art Council, St. Mary's Parish Council and the Muscatine County Democrats, where she was treasurer for 20 years. She spent many years volunteering for Voluntary Action, the Festival of Trees, Samaritans and Salvation Army for 20 years doing the Christmas registration and bell ringing, as well as many other activities of the Army. While in Muscatine, she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the St. Mary's Guild, the Women' Guild, the Salvation Army, Business and Professional Women, where she served the organization as state president from 1962-1964 and also on the National Resolution Committee. In Mason City, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of The Americas, Court Joan of Arc No. 152, where she served as a past regent. She also held the position of grand regent and district deputy. She was a member at the Senior Citizens Center, GGG's, Grams and Parish Life Young at Heart of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Most recently, she volunteered at the Mason City City Hall. She received many, many plaques and awards for her volunteer work. Survivors include two sons, James Dorsey and wife, Janet, of Mason City and Jon Patrick and wife, Barb, of Greeley, Colo.; a stepson, Thomas Webb and wife, Carolyn, of Spokane, Wash.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Merilayne Muth and Valoyce Cooper and husband, Walter, all of Mason City, and Lucretia Gourley and husband, Phillip, of Yuma, Ariz.; a brother, Jerry Nalan of Yuma; a special friend, Kathryn Espinosa of Mason City; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Nalan of Sheffield and Barbara Nalan of Grand Rapids, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, Darrell Dorsey; and three brothers, John, Clayton and Norvard Nalan.
