David Earl Benson of Glendale, Arizona passed away peacefully at his home on December 24, 2020. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He moved to Arizona at an early age with his family. He was the son of the late Earl Franklin Benson and the late Clara Mae Benson, and brother to the late Kenny Leader. His main goal in life was to provide for his wife and children. Besides being the "rock" to his wife, his time and energy went to his family. They came first before any of his needs were mentioned. Although not having a full education he was self-taught and the most logical man we knew. If something needed to be fixed and couldn't be done with wire and tape he'd find what was needed and fix it. He served his country in the United States Navy. He worked and retired from Fry's Food Warehouse where he was the Director of Transportation. During his retirement, he found a need to provide fellowship with those who are in nursing homes. He started his non-profit "The November Group" where he visited and became close to the senior citizens who resided there, many with no family that came to visit. ng. He made sure that they received presents at Christmas and celebrate the other holidays with music, cake and ice cream and most of all children of all ages. He prayed with them, he provided the spiritual needs of those who wanted to worship. He was also involved in a prison ministry by providing moral and spiritual support and needs not available through the state. Giving some of them contact outside the walls that surround them. His other passion was single moms, he helped several survive the daily things needed for them and their children like food and rent, and bills. He was a very giving and caring man. He paid it forward a lot without expecting it to be paid back. He is survived by his wife, Dawn Benson, of 53 years. His sons Nason Allen and wife Virginia, Kole Elliott and wife Stacie, Nickolas Matthew, and daughter Leanna Marie. 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Earlene Usrey and Norma Miller.
