BARBARA CURTIS MUSCATINE, Iowa - Barbara J. Curtis, of Muscatine, died Monday, December 20, 2004, at Unity Hospital. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street. Reverend Larry Hill will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Dan Schaapveld, Doug Vander Linden, Korey Miller and Kenneth Miller. Burial will be in Drury-Reynolds Cemetery, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the American Lung Association. Barbara was born on June 24, 1934, in New Boston, Illinois, the daughter of Johnny and Pearl Bieri Wedekind. She married Donald W. Curtis on June 5, 1952, in Muscatine. She retired from Sears in 1989 and later worked at First Federal Savings and Loan. She loved reading, gardening, being a homemaker and watching sports on television. She collected Teddy Bears, loved outings with her sisters, and loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Jason E. Curtis of Muscatine, and Donald W. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2003, and one sister, Mary Lou.
