William 'Bill' Tobias

WILLIAM J. TOBIAS FRUITLAND, Iowa - William 'Bill' Tobias, 74, of Fruitland, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021, at Trinity Muscatine. There will be private funeral services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Ralph J. Wittich Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made to the Fruitland Fire Department or Fruitland Park Board in Bill's name. Bill was born July 4, 1946, in Muscatine, the son of George and Bernadine Keeler Tobias. He married Stella Newton in 1965 and they later divorced. He later married Kathleen Ricketts in 1974, in Muscatine. Bill graduated from Muscatine High School in 1964. He served in the Vietnam War from 1966-1967. Bill worked at Carver Pump for 42 years, he retired in 2008. In his early years he pitched baseball, having pitched a couple no hitters. Bill loved to hunt in the fall and fish in the summer. He loved spending time with his family, he was most happy when one of the grandkids were on his lap. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Raymond Schmelzer.
