Carter, 81, Nichols, died Monday, June 6, 2005 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. The Rev. Betsey Neipert will officiate the services. Burial will be at the Nichols Cemetery. Mrs. Carter was born May 24, 1924, in Balaton, Minn., the daughter of Wallace and Violet Johnson Nixon. She married Donald Carter Nov. 3, 1946, in Balaton. She was a graduate of Balaton High School and attended business college. For 22 years she had been employed with Walnut Grove, West Liberty, retiring in 1986. She was an active member of Nichols United Methodist Church where she also served as treasurer. She enjoyed traveling and bowling. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Pat Carter and wife Sherrie of West Liberty and Mike Carter and wife Janette of Nichols; grandchildren, Neal Heneghan of Miami, Fla., Josh Carter and wife Missy of Lone Tree, Holly and Heather Carter of Cincinnati, Ohio, Hannah Carter of Nichols and Ryan Simpson of West Liberty; great-grandchildren, Logan Carter of Lo...[more]
