William Durst Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral amp; Cremation Services, 2907 Mulberry Ave. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday, funeral home. MUSCATINE, Iowa - William A. Durst, 87, Muscatine, died Monday, August 1, 2005, at Lutheran Homes. The Rev. Hal Green will officiate. Casket bearers are Brian Durst, Mark Durst, Stephen Durst and John Briggs. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1565 and American Legion Post 27. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Mr. Durst was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Muscatine, the son of William and Florence Martin Durst. He married May M. Harrington on April 29, 1939, in West Liberty. She preceded him in death in January 2004. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II from 1945-46. He was lifelong resident of the Muscatine area and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, 15-year member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, life member of the VFW and Moose Lodge and a past member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Margaret Keller; and a half-sister, Isabelle Dillwith.
