Ella Holst Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitations: 3-7:30 p.m. today, Bentley Funeral Home, Durant, with a Christian wake service following; and prior to services Tuesday, church. DAVENPORT, Iowa #45;- Ella M. Holst, 97, a resident of the Kahl Home, Davenport, formerly of Walcott, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center - West Campus, Davenport. Msgr. James Parizek will officiate the services. Casket bearers are her grandsons, Paul Dierickx, Randy Dierickx, Mike Holst, Tom Holst, Greg Oetzmann and Mark Oetzmann. Honorary casket bearers are her granddaughters, Theresa Nerem, Myra Cooper, Krista Wheeler, Rita Freese and Renae Lind. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. A memorial has been established. Mrs. Holst was born Dec. 3, 1908, in Davenport, the daughter of Anthony and Nora Beh Brus. She married Harry E. Holst on Jan. 16, 1937, in Davenport. He preceded her in death Dec. 19, 1993. She and her husband farmed in the Stockton area. She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, gardening and watching basketball. Survivors include two daughters, Nelda Dierickx and husband, Paul, of Durant and Mary Oetzmann and husband, Gene, of Eldridge; a son, Donald Holst and wife, Marieta, of Walcott; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Bernice Noland of Bettendorf; and a brother-in-law, Vernon Holst of Bettendorf. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Florence Lehms; and two brothers, Clarence and Henry Brus. Her family would like to thank the staff at Genesis West, the Kahl Home and Hein Manor for the loving care they provided.
