Joan was born March 1, 1929 in Beldenville, WI to Fredrick and Aletha (Northey) Tuebert. She graduated from River Falls High School. On March 27, 1948, she married Lewis Schwager. They made their home on his family farm near Altura for a short time before moving to St. Charles to raise their family. Joan was a faithful and active member of Our Saviors Moravian Church and taught Sunday school while her children were growing up. Joan enjoyed sewing, embroidery and baking. Her family and her grandchildren were her true pride and joy. She is survived by four children, Cynthia Schwager, Becky Schwager, Patricia (Bill) Reisdorf and Susan Schwager; six grandchildren, Erin, Britt, Crystal, Kyle, Nick and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Nora, Henry, Joanna, Charlie, Klarissa, Tyler, Aiden, Rinley, Everett Teegan & Lyra; and one sister, Lila Jean Spencer. Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 26, 2021 at Our Saviors Moravian Church with the Reverend Greg Behrend officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service.
