Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Penny Kaczinski and husband Jack and Peggy Smith and husband Kevin, all of DeWitt, and Patty Freiburger and Rick Bermel of Muscatine; a son, John Freiburger VIII and wife Merri of Bettendorf; two stepdaughters, Patricia McClendon and husband Dennis and Kathy Grinstead and husband Dan, all of Davenport; two stepsons, Dick Gugelmeyer and wife Jinx of Davenport and Mike Gugelmeyer of Hazel Green, Ala.; 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Anderson of Moline, Ill.; a stepsister, Polly Stamp of Plainsville, Ill.; a stepbrother, Henry Scott of Maquoketa; and special friends, Ken Nolan and Harvey Bergert, both of Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Edward; a sister, Bernice "Bunny" Williams; a brother, Walter Freiburger; and several stepsisters and stepbrothers. The family would like to extend their special thanks to the Visiting Nurses, Genesis Hospice and Goodlife Homecare for their thoughtfulness and loving care.
